Fine Precipitated Hydrates

Alolt Fine precipitated ATH, with the chemical formula Al₂O₃x3H₂O, is white, ultrafine, inorganic, high crystalline material. It is non-hygroscopic halogen free powder. This material has a very low solubility in water and organic solvents. The use of Alolt Fine precipitated ATH is most often based on the thermal decomposition of aluminium hydroxide into aluminium oxide and water (vapor). This endothermic reaction starts at about 180-200°C and consumes energy from the ignition source.

One of the largest markets for Alolt fine precipitated ATH are in sheathing and insulation of wire and cables (W&C), as halogen free flame retardant (HFFR) and smoke suppressant. It has the same role in plasticised PVC where is also widely used. Another very important end application is thermal insulation foams made of PVC/NBR (nitrile rubber) blends. Some examples of other applications are in the production of flooring materials based on PVC, EPDM or other polymers, production of conveyor belts, and as filler in paper industry where, beside the flame retardant role it contributes to paper brightness and ink receptivity.
